Nigeria modelled after America, Has never enjoyed the benefits of such form of governance. Nigeria still under the influence of Britain also runs the Westminster System. One would think that a government that has incorporated the form of governance of two great nations will be close in disparity. No don't run such imaginations....we are so far apart that one American Dollar is equivalent to almost 400 of Nigerian naira. And a British Pound equals to almost 650 of our Naira. Nigeria has enjoyed some success no doubt until after the civil war, when it all became all "men to himself" the Yoruba man doesn't accommodate the igbo, the Igbo is suspicious of the Hausa. Don't think that in each of these tribes unity exists. No! Far from it, the Anambara man thinks he is superior to other Igbo tribe. The Lagosian believe he holds the key to the Oduwa republic. Come to the Hausa's they have divided themselves into the conquered and the conqueror. On and on the Nigerian division subjugates the Nigerian dream.
Nigeria is a nation the entire world expects to breakup at anytime, Even Nigerian expect and await. By miracle and the doggedness of few we are still united. A unity that has cost us more than it has given, Nigeria's unity is built on the blood of Nigerian, we have used our bloods to wet the insatiably appetite of unity in diversity. It has kept us on the struggle
of majority and minority a struggle that is Nigerian's major problem politically, socially, infra-structurally, and otherwise. Previously in hopes to cut off this problem States and local governments were established and for sometime it seemed to work.
Few men have thought themselves worthy to the treasures of Nigeria and her people and therefore have looted... A loot, the looters are calling for immunity. Even the laws seem to target the less privileged. Be it the English law, Sharia, Customary and the common law. We cannot break away from corruption, we cannot break our from our pretentious unity but we can make it work for us, for I believe that what doesn't kill us will make us stronger..but first acceptance is key. We should accept that the Igbo, the Hausa, or the Yoruba man has come to stay, and device means to live and die for one another as one, then only then can we reap the dividends of our diversity.
