Is Health No longer Wealth?

Tell the Nigerian government to invest lifesaving funds that prioritise the most marginalised.

TARGET: President Buhari and the Nigerian government

Nigeria accounts for one in every eight child deaths globally. Every single day the country loses more than 2,000 children under-five to diseases, while 158 Nigerian women die from pregnancy or childbirth related illnesses. 

Despite being Africa's biggest economy, Nigeria proportionately spends very little on the health of its citizens and is failing to meet its promises on health spending made in the Abuja Declaration 15 years ago. 

President Buhari and the Nigerian government have the power to change this. The government needs to ensure implementation of the National Health Act, including more resources and better spending to ensure all Nigerians, including the poorest, are able to access health care. 

By taking action we can help save millions of lives and create a more healthy, prosperous and secure nation. Together we can Make Naija Stronger. Time is ticking and Nigerians are expectant of change. The promise change that made history having broken a history of 15years PDP reign.

Buhari came to power with his change slogan, I for one do not expect a miracle. In fact I commend the president so far for what he has achieved, and this means a lot to me having campaigned and even voted against him. He has taken some initiative that will put Nigeria in the right direction, if not sabotaged like every good thing in Nigeria. But if we have a better Nigerian today and no citizens to enjoy the dividends then what we have done will be like the proverbial farmer who spent time washing himself to prepare a meal for the fowls.
Health is power and only healthy citizens can build an economy. He Buhari knows better after having all the infections listed over his name.

If he must be different from other administrations he must prove it with no bias. No favoritism, no brotherhood or owamberism, no friendly pardons. And yes we will eulogize him long after he is dead.
