Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State a die hard Burharmaniac has redressed rumours of purchasing or cloning of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) by an aspirant in upcoming governorship election in the state, describing it as "fallacy’’.
Oshiomhole told newsmen after casting his vote at All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City on Saturday that such PVC racketing was not possible, given measures put in place.
He said the rumour was diversionary and part of antics usually recorded in any electoral process.
The governor assured that the primaries and the main election coming up on Sept. 10 in the state would be transparent, fair and credible.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that before the commencement of polling in the primary, Chairman of the Committee handling the exercise, Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina, had announced that voting would be thump-printing against photograph of the aspirants.
Masari dissuaded delegates against taking photograph of their voting card, saying that "the interest of Edo should be the driving motive of those who want to be at the driving seat of the state”.
He said whoever emerges winner of the primaries will need the other aspirants' support to face candidates of the other parties, hence there will be no loser at the end of the day.
