Good bye Keshi

The Hero may now regret all his fights for the nation as government could not deliver on promises made. Former Nigeria skipper and coach Stephen who was laid to rest in his village of Ilah, Delta State without the fanfare promised by the country’s government may as well be turning in his would be grave.

A former teammate of the dead Austin Eguavoen, expressed his disappointment at the way Keshi's event was handled.

“I am not shocked by the way the government has treated this event,”

“For instance, most of us have yet to get the houses the government promised us when we won the Nations Cup in 1994.
“You are only energised when you have been looked after.
“You now wonder if Nigeria is worth fighting for or even dying for.”

In all Naija Youth Voice wishes Keshi, a better life in the underworld.

On Friday night Iyiola Omisore was  released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after he agreed to refund the over N1.3billion he allegedly received from the office of the National Security Adviser.

As gathered he has paid the first installment of N300million before he was allowed to go home.
Those familiar with the negotiation said before his release on Friday, Mr. Omisore issued a letter authorising his bank to release 170 million to EFCC.
He also gave the commission a draft of N130 million, bringing the first installment of the repayment plan to N300 million.
Mr. Omisore, a former deputy governor of Osun State and PDP flag-bearer in the 2014 Osun governorship election, will  be returning on Monday for further negotiations regarding how he would stagger the refund of the remaining one billion.

Initially Mr. Omisore had denied benefiting from Dasukigate and had sued EFCC, seeking N10 billion damages, after he was declared wanted in May.
However, Mr. Omisore, while in detention, admitted to collecting the sum from Mr. Dasuki.

Ribadu reunites with APC.

Amist PDP disunity and APCs unenthusiastic broken support for Buhari, Ribadu rejoins APC, a party he was founding fathers to. APC contested for and took power from PDP in the last election. In a confirmation statement, Ribadu said the following:
"I have finally heeded the calls on me to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party of which I was a founding member. I re-registered as a member of the APC on Thursday through the party’s online portal. After that, the leadership of the party in my Bako ward of Yola South Local Government Area visited me in my Yola residence to welcome me back to their fold. My decision to return to the APC was triggered by my believe that all politics are local. Almost everyone around me, and with whom we started my political journey believed the time had come for us to make sacrifices and make concessions. That is in addition to the unbelievable love that my friends in the APC have showered on me in the past months. They demonstrated in words and action that they wanted me back home. I also did a deep and long reassessment of the circumstances that warranted my exit from the APC in the first place. I left the APC in 2014 owing to fundamental disagreements with the ways the chapter of the party in my state was run after it fell into some hands. Some colleagues and I tried hard to save the then APC administration from an orchestrated impeachment plot which was unfortunately carried out with active collaboration of some ranking APC members in the state. However, events in the last 15 months have addressed many of the issues and healed some of the wounds. More so, with the genuine and sincere invitations I received since last year to retrace my steps into the party, I decided to return after consulting family and political associates at all levels. I would like to appreciate all those members of the party who privately and publicly prodded me to return to the party. My appreciation also goes to the leadership of our party, from my ward in Bako to the national leadership, for the enthusiasm they showed in having me back."

A dead man's chest

Buhari unlike pass administrator has interest in knowing who killed Late Chief Bola Ige and Aminosari Dokubo.

Chief Bola Ige was shot dead  in his bedroom in Bodija, Ibadan, home at about  9pm on December 23, 2001, after he arrived Ibadan from Lagos.

Chief Aminosari Dokubo, himself  the late PDP Deputy National Chairman was said to be returning to his quarter  from Abuja after a meeting when he was ambushed by assassins on entering Delta State. He was killed near Asaba on October 22, 2004.

Yesterday, the Acting-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, was ordered to reopen investigation into the unresolved murder of former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige, and ex-Deputy National Chairman, South-South, of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Aminosari Dokubo.

Family members have expressed joy in the prospect of finally getting justice served.
It's been 15 years since Bola was murdered and 12 years for Dokubo.

A corrupt government fighting corruption.

Question of the day :
How do you fight corruption with corruption?

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose calls Buhari the grandfather of corruption in Nigeria, this comes with recent finding that the President has been shielding his men, family and friends from probe.
In recent developments, following the the fact released by the Committee on Audit of Defence Equipment Procurement in the Nigerian Armed Forces, and Dambazau's/Buratai's exclusion.
Major General Abdul rahman Dambazau (rtd) was Chief of Army Staff between 2008 and 2010 and the current Chief Of Army Staff, Major General Tukur Buratai served as Director of Procurements, Defence Headquarters, from 2012 till May 2015.

The question now is how does arms procurement go pass the Chief of Army Staff and Director of procurement?

This simple makes the claim by oppositions true.... Buhari and  his government doctored its latest arms panel and indeed makes feather of  Buhari's  song of Zero Tolerance for Corruption.

Fulani's herdsmen a societal menace.

Fulani Herdsmen since Buhari's arrival seems to have gotten more confidence and bold in their place of grazing choice. Their recent choices have included the stadium, and national theater  a development which has began to scare away tourist locally and internationally. It is no just saying when one says that the actions of this herdsman are menacing, and thuggish. The end up littering the premise as they pass, oozing odours of unfantomable class.
The question on our minds remain, if they were not Fulani's will this be condoled?

The Full event between Dino and Mr's Tinubu.

The Dino and Mr's Tinubu political saga takes us further into the lack of manners, personality, tolerance and humanity in our political cosum.

In a press release Dino stated how the events unfolded. Some believed some didn't.
Nigeria's humiliation has in most cases come from our politically families.
What has menopause, impregnation, dog, thug,  got to do with passing bills that will be of benefit to the people?

It is said that Dino first accused the Senate of been a tool in the hands of the President, to which Tinubu's wife reacted to,
Sources said Mrs. Tinubu, wife to  former Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu, addressed the senate, saying “I’m just wondering why whenever Senator Dino speaks in this chamber, he is always threatening people and behaving childishly and at times like a thug.
“I think he needs to know that every senator here represents their constituencies. And that there is no need to threaten anyone.
“We are seeking and working towards reconciliation, yet you are busy issuing threats.”

Dino was said to have lashed out at her and charged towards her only to be calmed by other members of the House.

In a press release Dino said the reports were all false.

His statement:
It is my sincere pleasure to address you this morning. It wouldn't have been necessary to address you on the subject matter am about to address you on but it has become expedient that despite the fact what I am addressing you transpired in the executive session of the senate but because of the misinformation by people of inundinate ambition out there. It has not only become expedient but it has become very, very paramount that I address you on this subject matter.
On Tuesday, the 12th of July, we had an executive session to discuss basically on the issue of forgery case in court and when I stood up to address and I want to say that on my honour as a christian on my honour as a father and on the oath of my office as a senator of the federal Republic of Nigeria I am telling you the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I have never being a coward, I will not start an apprenticeship programme now on how to become a coward. Whatever I say anywhere I can boldly repeat everywhere. When I stood up and I made my submissions that day in the senate, all I did was to pacify my colleagues and asked that the case in court be withdrawn because already there is a resolution of the senate that the rules of the senate were not forged and since there was a resolution of the senate that the rules of the senate were not forged then I said all those who have gone to court should go and withdraw their names from court and that if at the end of the day those who refused to withdraw their names from court we should penalised them by suspending them, I said that.
But I did not use any insolent abusive degrading or mannerless language. So there was no reaction from any of our colleagues as regards my presentation. After I spoke so many other senators spoke and I did not mention the name of any senators while I was making my presentation, unfortunately senator Oluremi Tinubu got up and was recognised to speak and immediately she started speaking she specifically mentioned my name even when in my presentation I did not mention anybody names I only appeal to the sensitivity of my colleagues and asked them to withdraw their case from court and reminded them already that there was a resolution of the senate that the rules were not forged. But because of reasons only known to senator Oluremi Tinubu she got up the first thing she said was that she's being harrassed in this chamber by senator Melaye. I kept quite at that point, she went ahead to say that why will he come here and be threathening senators and there was a large chorus from senators how, when, where, senators reacted. At that point I was still very calm, she got up again and said that this thug must be tamed at that point I got up and I told her that she is very stupid. The next statement from her is that you are a dog. She called me a dog and when she called me a dog I stood up and I reacted and I told her that this is not Bourdillon and that she should look at my face, I am not one of those senators who normally come to prostrate to them in Bourdillon. And I told her I am from Kogi State, I am not from Lagos State and that there would never be a day that I will come to you for political assistance. This were my words and she went on shouting dog, thug.
I want to tell you gentlemen of the press for every reaction there must be an action. When I got up to address my colleagues she was not the only senators there. If I had used insolent language or foul languages you will know the type of senators we have they would have reacted and some of them would have even addressed you guys by now to say Dino insulted us. But because she acted in the manner she did not one seantor stood up in her defence when I was tongue lashing her. Even the senators from Lagos was there, Ashafa was there he didn't stand up fro his seat. It is not true that anybody circled her because there was no need to. I did not leave the spot where I was sitting I didn't get up from my seat. So there wouldn't have being anybody to but somehow she got falsehood sold to the saharareporters. Nobody amongst those of us who spoke there actually talked about impeachment. Infact the issue of the presidency or president was not the subject matter we were discussing on how the senate can also come together and solve the forgery case. There wouldn't have being any need to even discuss about Buhari or the Presidency but because of deliberate wickedness and satanic manifestations they brought in the issue of presidency to garnish their aim and purpose.
Today, I read on the pages of newspaper that in Nation to be very precise that senator Borrofice calling me names. Unfortunately, this expatriate senator, absentee senator called senator Borrofice was not even in the Chamber and he has not being in the chamber for the past two months. He was not in the chamber, I was surprised maybe he has celestial powers to understand what happens in his absence. For him to open his gutter and pass insolent languages on me. I have never being a coward and I will never be, I fight my battles alone and I stand by it and there is nothing I say anywhere that I cannot repeat everywhere. If there are instances that I am not a super human being, if there are instances where as a human being I have reacted negatively I am also ready to be apologetic about it.
But in this particular instance, I have never mentioned anybody's name, I never even used insolent languages but because they are here to heal from the wound of defeat of the election of the senate president and because of my key role in this exercise where she and her husband called me severally to appeal to me to backoff Saraki and I say I will not backoff Saraki, I will continue to support Saraki, Saraki is my brother, he is my friend and I will continue to support him and this will not change today, it will not change tomorrow, it will not change in this four years of our stay in the Senate.
Every human being can have ambition, it is not a crime to be ambitious. saraki had the ambition of becoming a Senate president and God endorsed it, president Muhammadu Buhari is an ambitious person that is why he contested for the presidency four times before God answered him. I am an ambitious person, I event want to be president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria very soon.
So it is not a crime to be ambitious. So if you go through the papers today there has been a lot of misinformation, a lot of lies, a lot of blackmail, planted stories just to discourage the person and personality of Dino Melaye but I want to assure everyone that I remain resolute in my compaternal convictions, I will continue to stand by the truth, I will continue to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves, I will continue to be a voice to the voiceless and in reaction I heard that Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu said my political career has come to an end. I want to say that Tinubu is no God.
I fear only the God almighty, I fear no soul I only respect souls. So far my political journey to the House of Representatives and the Senate have no political, financial or moral contribution of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the God who has brought me this far is mighty, strong and enough to take me further, what God has given me no man can give and what God has given to me no man can take. I want to assure you that this is the true story of what transpired. It is falacious, malicious and a lie that I said I will impregnate Mrs Tinubu.
Biologically it is even impossible to impregnate Mrs Tinubu because she has arrived menopause. If you also look at that statement for those of us who are intellectually mobile, how can you say you want to beat somebody and at the same time you want to impregnate the person if you juxtapose the two is there any correlation, does it make any logical sense. So, when they planted this falsehood they did not think deeply. I want to say that I will continue to uphold the culture the tradition, the values of the Kogi West Senatorial district and I will not abuse it. But it is absurd for a woman to look for her colleague and call him a thug and a dog when he has not personally addressed you. unfortunately I did not have the anointing to be quite when you are being insulted I replied accordingly. I repeat there is no reaction without an action. If she did not call me a dog or a thug there is no way I would have responded. I responded I have no regrets for responding and defending my person and if tomorrow or in the next 1hour, Senator Tinubu again called me any name I shall equally respond accordingly.

Our Senate as always have been a comic relief to national pressure and stress, but this takes it to a political war level, how it will unfold in the near future is yet uncertain.

The waves hitting the country Nigeria.

The bokoharam effect has almost dwindled or brought to a halt activities in affected areas.
Down the south Niger Delta Avengers are seriously dishing out their malice against the government, an action that is almost crumbling the nation.
By the East the movement for actualization of Biafra is making waves.
Down by the west, they have come to realise that one Nigeria is a mirage.
Take it or leave it, Nigeria needs to be rethought. She has even been prophecied to break up.
As if everything Nigeria stood for was dependent on oil price, we are crumbling.
We are not moving forward, perhaps the blood of our hero past may have dried up and doesn't appease the god of unity anymore. Or we lost our way, long before we even made our first step.
Nigeria is richly blessed, but the elected, who were elected to manage our resources, have been catering away with it. As the people, our eyes were open way too late.
The songs of corruption, has taken a new turn, internationally we are said to be kings of corruption. Although the man who gave us that title will forever be remembered as the prime minister who broke two unions: EU and UK. Even at that those caught, and those revealed to have hands deep in the pockets of corruption, still roam in the political board room, we are yet to see tangible effect from the so called hunt for corruption.
The waves hitting Nigeria is hitting her hard, and steady and like every ship, this is the point the captain should be barking out the order, "all hands on deck!!!"

UN is not to Blame for the starvation in Nigeria.

Nigeria may be on brink of famine?
It's a pure lie, how can they expect us to believe that, when the President banned importation of rice and other commodities not made in Nigeria.
The items include the following:
1. Rice
2. Cement
3. Margarine
4. Palm kernel/Palm oil products/vegetables oils
5. Meat and processed meat products
6. Vegetables and processed vegetable products
7. Poultry chicken, eggs, turkey
8. Private airplanes/jets
9. Indian incense
10. Tinned fish in sauce(Geisha)/sardines
11. Cold rolled steel sheets
12. Galvanized steel sheets
13. Roofing sheets
14. Wheelbarrows
15. Head pans
16. Metal boxes and containers
17. Enamelware
18. Steel drums
19. Steel pipes
20. Wire rods(deformed and not deformed)
21. Iron rods and reinforcing bard
22. Wire mesh
23. Steel nails
24. Security and razor wine
25. Wood particle boards and panels
26. Wood Fibre Boards and Panels
27. Plywood boards and panels
28. Wooden doors
29. Toothpicks
30. Glass and Glassware
31. Kitchen utensils
32. Tableware
33. Tiles-vitrified and ceramic
34. Textiles
35. Woven fabrics
36. Clothes
37. Plastic and rubber products, polypropylene granules , cellophane wrappers
38. Soap and cosmetics
39. Tomatoes/tomato pastes
40. Eurobond/foreign currency bond/ share purchases

Note: These items are not prohibited or banned. It only means that importers of these items are no longer qualified to get foreign exchange from the CBN or the official market to buy these items from overseas.

This thus reduces by over 60% the amount of imported goods in the market, with the dollar floating, and lack of exchange support from CBN. And results in a dip in availability of food. Even in peaceful areas.
39,10,7,6,5,4,3,1 representing 20% of commodities declared unsupported by CBN are edible. The President's  intent may be well meaning and may go beyond victimizing the the Igbo importers and business men.
In a country where agriculture has been abandoned for over two or three decades, and agricultural produce not enough for producing areas, how the President expects the entire nation to feed, may have to be a story told by economical statistician.
Recently UN was blamed for the starvation in the Boko Haram infested area of Nigeria, since it couldn't aid them early enough. And the Nigerian government taking no blame, is a high level of irresponsibility. The welfare of a people is primarily the government's, external bodies are secondary and can and should never be blamed solely if things turn out wrong. Nigerian government can only blame herself, imagine a government made up of 90% Northerns, blaming international bodies for not coming to rescue the North, is another height of the Buhari regime blame game. Nigeria needs to understand that before decisions are taken, proper research needs to be done, since the arrival of Buhari, hasty decisions has been the call of duty and the effects are bound to be felt. Why place exchange embargo on food importation, when you do not have enough?

Away from the North, no one seems to regard other areas of concern in Nigeria. Everyone has heard the situation of the Northern 7 years war, the government is screaming for help from international bodies, but how many times has it sang of over 30 years Niger Delta oil spill that left the soil, rivers and people unproductive. The East are brutalized and murdered on daily count and it doesn't seem to move anyone. No part of the government has ever cried out, yet this areas account for 60% if not 80% of national income.

Good News Kaduna!!

Minister of Power, Works and Housing Mr Babatunde Fashola, on Wednesday said  the 215 MW Dual Fired Kaduna Power Plant would be completed in June 2017.
The said Kaduna Power Plant was initially awarded in 2009 and was expected to last for 36 months, however the Nigerian factor prevented its actualization.
The minister, however, said that work had since resumed at the site in Kudenden Area of Kaduna, adding that the project would be completed in the second quarter of 2017.

Strike Actions comes to an end.

PENGASSAN, in earlier today July 13, 2016, suspended its 6-day strike after talks with the federal government and employers in the oil sector.

The oil workers’ union called on its members nationwide to resume work with “immediate effect” after its national executive committee meeting.

High Electric trariff price cutoff by court.

A Justice Ibrahim Idris of the Federal High Court, Lagos has directed the reversal to status quo on  the National Electricity Regulation Commission (NERC) tariff plan.

The judge also orders the commission to follow Electricity Power Sector Reform Act 2004 (EPSRA) to implement any increment in tariff.
It came about when a Mr. Toluwani Adebiyi filed a suit, challenging the hike in electricity tariff.

The judge held: “The increment in tariff was hasty and somewhat illegal. The review was done in a breach of existing order. This again was hasty, reckless and irresponsible.

The plaintiff, Adebiyi, in the substantive suit, had sought for an order restraining NERC from implementing any further upward review of electricity tariff without a significant improvement in power supply.

He also prayed for an order restraining NERC from foisting compulsory service charge on pre-paid meters, until the meters are designed to read charges per second of consumption‎.

It's Portugal! It's Portugal!! It's Portugal!!!

The worst career moments of Ronaldo, turns to his glory moments.
Eder's extra time goal ensures Portugal are crowned king of EURO 2016.
It’s funny how football works. In the last 20 years, Portugal have had teams with far more attacking intent and flair, than what we have seen this year.  Without Iceland’s injury-time goal against Austria, Portugal would not be European champions. This team will forever be the first Portugal side to win a major tournament.
There is an overload of emotion. Portugal are European champions, despite losing Ronaldo after 25 minutes, despite winning one match in 90 minutes, despite looking like they could lose 4-0 in the first 10 minutes.
France are shattered, and Coman is in tears as well. I’ve never seen so many tears in a football match.
So many people were deeply involved  for Portugal's triumph: Pepe, Nani, Rui Patricio, Ronaldo, Carvalho.
What more could be said.....It's Portugal! It's Portugal!! They are champions, they are in history, although many couldn't believe it or even tipped them to come this far, they did and they are champions. It's Portugal!

The list of 34 members: Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Benin, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Gabon, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Palestinians, Qatar, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.

Buhari and Saudi Arabia mercenary, to fight Niger Delta Avengers

President Muhammadu Buhari  has reportedly against all odds struck a $258 million deal with a Saudi Arabia ‘Blackwater’ military contractor to help the Nigerian Armed Forces in fighting militants in the oil-rich Niger Delta region in the southern part of Nigeria. A shock to Nigerians as the deal does not include to fight the known terrorist groups: Boko haram the world deadliest terrorist group and Fulani herdsmen the Nigerian deadliest terrorist group. This is part of the deal the President signed which included Nigeria in the Islamic military alliance, a deal the Christian association of Nigeria has since condemned.
The Saudi military contractor is led by Anwar Eshki, a retired Saudi general who is a former top adviser to the Saudi government.
Meanwhile the Niger Delta Avengers have voiced their readiness to engage with the so called mercenary from Saudi Arabia.

President's Assistant says No hardship in Nigeria

The insensitivity of Nigerian elites, take a new high as the President's  Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said that, people who are complaining of hardship are in the minority.
He said this while speaking in a telephone interview with 100.1FM Abuja.

His words:
“Yes, you need to give me the statistics of those complaining. We (government officials) are in the midst of the people and we can feel the pulse of the people. I maintain that the people who are complaining are in the minority. I can tell you that the support base of this government is still enormous. Yes, we know some people are complaining but, they are still in the minority” Femi Adesina reportedly said.

Solar Power Project to kick off soon

Electricity as always has been Nigeria's major concern, administration after administration has invested billions of dollars in order to improve our watt generation. An investment any Nigerian will tell have had little or no impact. The present administration have put in place over 100 million dollars for investment into the power sector.
Nigeria’s will be commissioning a $146 million 75 mega watt solar power station next year.
This is part of the Solar Power Purchase Agreement, the Federal Government and Pan Africa Solar, signed recently at the office of the Nigeria Bulk Energy Trader, NBET.
The 75MW solar photovoltaic power project will be located in Katsina State, and is expected to sell power for a tariff of 11.5 US cents per kWh.

According to professor and vice President Osibanjo the 75MW solar project will be the largest of its type in Sub Saharan Africa (excluding South Africa) and will provide power for 1.1 million Nigerians and will generate
500 jobs for local Nigerian during the 12 month construction period, about 40,000 new jobs will be created from the additional economic activity stimulated by the power plant all these were said on behalf of the VP by Mr's Lolade Abiola of the Sector Lead Solar and Access Advisory power Team.

Pan Africa Solar Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Marcus Heal, commended the federal government and went further to say that Pan Africa Solar is developing a 1,000 MW portfolio of solar projects in Nigeria and is planning on bringing more than US$1 billion of investment over the next five years.

FCMB sues Kogi State

Sometime ago FCMB was hailed for giving loan to civil servants, and deducting it from their salaries gradually. In Kogi the case was not different. Years laterThe First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has sued the Kogi State Government over breach of contractual agreement that has caused bank to lose over N700 million in loans to workers. Why Kogi will push for change of salary accounts knowing the agreement they are in with FCMB remain cloudy.
The trial judge, Justice Phoebe Ayua adjourned the case to October.

Is Ikpeazu finally set as Abia Governor?

Ikpeazu may still remain Abia governor, after court dismisses suit filed by Chief Friday Nwosu , asking for the removal of Ikpeazu for allegedly presenting forged tax certificate to his party, Nwosu was an aspirant under the PDP flag and therefore insist he ikpeazu was not eligible to represent PDP.
The judge had said, the case was dismissed on the fact that the lawyers to the two of them ( Ikpeazu and Ogah ) had argued that he ( the judge ) no longer had jurisdiction to hear the motion.
The judge instead ordered Ikpeazu and Uche Ogah, who are both claiming to be the legitimate governor of the state to go before the Court of Appeal for the resolution of the stalemate in the state, although earlier Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court in Abuja refused to hear Mr . Okezie Ikpeazu ’ s application for stay of execution, Justice Lewis Allagoa of the Federal High Court , Owerri , affirmed the election of Ikpeazu as governor of the state, setting Ikpeazu and team on jubilee.

He (the judge) went on to say that Ogah is not eligible to enjoy the outcome of the PDP primary because he had earlier rejected the result of the primary judge.

By the ruling, the jubilant Ikpeazu stated that the god of justice has spoken for him, and urged Abians despite region to join hands with him to build Abia. He thanked the judge and Mr President who earlier had said the status quo should be maintained in Abia until after the court verdict.

Another Fuel Scarcity in the loom

Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria ( PENGASSAN) yesterday commenced an industrial action.
The union announced the gradual withdrawal of its members on the offshore, loading bays and flow stations.
But After a media report in one of the television stations claiming  that the strike had been called off, the association said that the strike had actually begun not minding the Eid el-Fitr public holidays declared by the federal government.
The union stated their reasons for the action as follows: (1) irregular Joint Venture (JV) funding and cash call payment arrears,
(2) lack of a clear-cut direction on the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB),
(3) forceful co-option of government agencies in the industry into the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) and
(4) the spate of redundancy and retrenchments in the oil and gas industry.
Meanwhile Nigerians expressed their dismay over having to go through scarsity again.

Eid-el-Fitri cost Nigeria over $1.88 billion

Nigerian government extended Eid-el-Fitri because the moon could not be sighted. The President of Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), has said the extended public holiday declared by the Federal Government for Eid-el-Fitri cost Nigeria over $1.88 billion.

Mr. Tony Ejinkeonye said this on Thursday while addressing newsmen, he explained that “the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Nigeria was worth $481.07 billion in 2015, having fallen from an all time high of $568.51 in 2014 and by analysis $1.88 billion goes with public holidays.

After he acknowledged how important public holidays is to Nigerians, he further went on to urge the federal government to be mindful of declaring holidays, especially now that the economy is not buoyant.

Why won't I be single?

Why YIEDP will fail

The Youth Innovative Entrepreneurship Development Programme, recently conducted a training program for over 1500 Nigerian youths. A program aimed at preparing them for the world of business management. The promises this program comes with sounds too good to be true, and like we know too good to be true, usually ain't good at all or may be good afterall.
YIEPD is to offer a maximum loan of 3million Nigerian Naira to startup and expanding youth business in Nigeria, on a collateral of certificates, a guarantor and other hidden policies.

We take a look at possible reasons why it could fail and a glance at why it may succeed.

Why we think it will fail.

Inadequate planning :
The three days training, conducted by CBN, Heritage Bank and NYSC takes 6 weeks in a normal proceedings, squeezed into less than 72 hours, I tell you these youths are as green as they came.  And the only thing anyone can boast was related, is just how to write a business plan.
Inadequate planning and training will be one factor to the failure of YIEPD.

Pressure :
Another factor will be the pressure to pay back. The majority of businesses presented were startup, and 97% do not have any experience what so ever on running some of the businesses they presented. By Statistics 70% of startups fail, even when starters are not under pressure as this young CEOs would be when they receive the loan.

Inflation rate in Nigeria:
Businesses are already failing, in Nigeria. Dollar floating, high cost of everything investors packing, impending threats of strike actions. Are these businesses not going to be established in Nigeria? What would have changed? When banks and oil firms are laying off workers, Nigeria are expecting startup businesses to resurrect the economy and reduce unemployment rate.

Why it will be a success.
YIEPD could revolutionalize the Nigerian economy, setup a class of African CEOs that can set Africa going.
There is no place anyone can get a single digit loan, in Nigeria or anywhere else.
Nigeria holds an opportunity untapped and a market of over 180 million people. With this recent inflation, Nigeria and Nigerians will be looking at something new, decent and innovative. This youths have a potential, they are creative, and are ambitious.
In a few years we all we thank CBN for this.

Portugal ports to the final

Ronaldo and Nani brightens the faces of all Portuguese and fans in the world, as they powered Portugal to Euro 2016 finals. They beat Wales two goals to none. Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 50th minute, while Nani a former teammate of Ronaldo doubles it by the 53rd minutes.
Bale can take consolation on the fact that his team could still battle for an Euro medal after France and Germany trashes each other out.

Abia Disarray, the fact.

The current Abia disarray

The Fact:
There were so many lies on his (ikpeazu) tax papers. One of the issues on hand  was that he started paying tax when he was not yet in the employment of the Abia State Government.
Further more, the serial numbers on his tax receipts shows deception. The 2013 serial number recorded the beginning of the tax payment, wherein,  the 2011 receipt showed as if it was the last payment.
The serial numbers were conflicting. The conflict showed that Ikpeazu had not paid his tax as at when due in obedience to the law.
Another problem was the issue of figures. Let us assume he was supposed to earn between N400,000 to N500,000 per annum, and on his tax papers, it was showing above N1million.
He said his tax was being deducted at source.

But the question now  is.
If that was so, why the discrepancies in his  taxable income? Is it not what he was earning, he should be taxed on? One would also wonder why the case was delayed since the law in Section 31 of the 2010 Electoral Act as amended gives a co-aspirant the opportunity to examine the documents of an opponent to validate whether he was qualified to contest for the primary election in the first place, because it is a pre-election matter. And if you find out in his disclosures and declarations that he has given a false or misleading information, the section guarantees you the right to apply to a Federal or State High Court for a redress. You also have the right to ask that that candidate be disqualified because he was not qualified in the first place to run for primaries.
Section 31(6) says if such a candidate was found to have declared false information, he is liable to be disqualified by the court.

The answers.

(1) Ikpeazu's Team and their incompetence:
Just like in the election, the fact upon which Otti has based his appeals for canceling out Ikpeazu's governorship title, in certain zones the number of accredited voters do not tally with the number of voters. The ikpeazu team has always played down on certain important issues, perhaps they have come to believe they are unbeatable.

(2) The battle over which court has jurisdiction to try the case:
Ikpeazu’s legal team came up with the issue that the court has no jurisdiction. So, it has to handled by the Supreme Court.
So, when the Supreme Court ruled that the lower court has jurisdiction to hear the case, the case was then brought to the Federal High Court again and everything started all over again.

Meanwhile Otti on the other hand, has insisted he should be given mandate as the first runner u p by election, while Uche says nothing can stop him. As the men battle for the Abia government house, the house itself is under key.
In aba a saying has been circulating "na ikpeazu, Uchechukwu ga eme " meaning that God's will at last take place. This is in connection with meanings in Uche Ugah's name and Ikpeazu's name.

Messi is sentenced 21 months in Spanish jail, for invading tax.
Although messi who recently retired from international football, insists he knows nothing about his finances, which his father manages. The court did not find his statement credible enough to acquit him. His father on the other hand insist he himself was not aware of the fraud amounting to over 3million euros.

Road signs and you

I have been wondering, like so many will now. What does this road sign (in the picture)  mean

Monday 4 July 2016

Buhari replaces Kachikwu

Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu the group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has replaced him with Maikanti Baru.

In a press statement issued today in Abuja, the president's  office says Kachikwu will now function as the chairman of t.he Board of the NNPC.

The new board is composed of the following:
A. Chairman-Dr Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum;
B. Group Managing Director- Dr Maikanti Kacalla Baru;
C. The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance; and
D. The following six persons:
1. Mallam Abba Kyari
2. Dr Thomas M.A John
3. Dr Pius O. Akinyelure
4. Dr Tajuddeen Umar
5. Mallam Mohammed Lawal, and
6. Mallam Yusuf Lawal.

In his speech, President Buhari urges the new board to ensure the successful delivery of the mandate of the NNPC, " and serve the nation by upholding the public trust placed on them in managing this critical national asset."

CBN takes over Skye Bank

CBN has taken over the Board and management of Skye Bank Plc. Reason behind this according to the CBN governor is that the bank failed to meet the regulator’s minimum key liquidity and capital adequacy ratios.

CBN governor has stated that the bank is not in distress, and that their actions is to ensure depositors fund do not go "a story "

Buhari's classmates pays him a visit. What Nigerians said

See how Nigerians reacted to Mr Presidents tweet concerning his classmates, who came calling.
The Picture says it all.

Saturday 2 July 2016

Why we will never know Buhari's educational status.

Nigerians will never know Buhari's true qualifications to run or even sit as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The certificate saga died out when the plaintiff filed for withdrawal, a shock to almost all Nigerians.

Thus The court has struck out the case filed in respect to Mr Presidents certificate and educational qualifications.
Adeniyi Ademola, justice of the federal high court, delivered ruling on suit challenging the veracity of the academic credentials of the president on June 30, in Abuja.

At the resumed sitting on the matter, Nwokocha-Ahaaiwe declared his intention to withdraw the suit, though he failed to adduce any reason behind the decision. This surely will raise brows, as no clear fact as to the withdrawal of such an authentic case.

Justice Adeniyi, in a bench ruling, placed reliance on Order 50(2) of the Federal High Court Civil Procedure Rules, terminated further hearing on the matter.

Thus Buhari's qualification saga dies an untimely death.

Are Norths meant to Rule all Nigerians?

Buhari may be gearing for a second civil war or he is basically not a player in the one NIGERIA pitch. He clearly is building a Nigeria that will soon be battered. With his current trend of appointments, after his tenure, there is every indication and a 100% grantee that the next President will come from another region, and he too will take up the monopolious method of appointment which will clearly spark up the North mental battle of "They are meant to rule "
Since his ascension into power,  he has clearly made Nigeria, a northern affair.

Case study 1:

Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, North;
Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, North;
Minister of Defence, Brig Gen (retd) Mansur Dan Ali, North;
National Security Adviser, Major Gen (retd.) Babagana Munguno, North; Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr Ibrahim Magu, North;
Director-General, Department of State Services, Mr Lawal Daura, North; Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service, Col Hameed Ali (retd.), North;

Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Damazzau (retd.), under whose ministry are Prisons Service, Immigration Service, Fire Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, is also from the North, then the Ministry of the Interior with its agencies is virtually controlled by the North in clear breach of the Federal Character policy enshrined in the constitution.

Case Study 2:

The three arms of government are headed by Northerners:
Executive, President Muhammadu Buhari;
Legisture, Dr Bukola Saraki;
and
Judiciary, Justice Mahmud Mohammed.
More eye opener the two arms of the legislature are headed by Northerners: Dr Bukola Saraki, Senate President, and Mr Yakubu Dogara, Speaker, House of Representatives.

Case Study 3:

The three levels of the law courts are headed by Northerners:
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Mahmud Mohammed (North);
President of the Court of Appeal is Justice Zainab Adamu Bulkachuwa (North);
Chief Judge of the Federal High Court is Justice Ibrahim Auta (North).
In 2015, Buhari appointed Alhaji Abubakar Malami as the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, also from the North.
Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission Prof. Mahmood Yakubu is also a northerner.

You can now draw your conclusions.
Mine has been drawn that Buhari may after all be writing the live version of "there was a country "

The Missing Chief Justice.

No Chief Judge to inaugurate Uche Ugah. The absence of
Justice Theresa Uzoukwu, whose wayabout is unknown, has placed Abia in a position where it has two governors who may soon go into battle of supremecy, since Mr. Ikpeazu declared Friday and Monday next week as public holidays in honour of the former Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, a prominent Abia son, who died in Abuja on Wednesday. This means a hold on any possible swear in and a possible cause for Uche Ugah to feel unsettled, having already held a meeting with
office of the State Director of SSS Korede Kamoju.

The meeting lasted till about 8.10 p.m.

Mr. Ogah left the SSS in a long convoy but could not be reached by  journalists, who had waited throughout the period of the meeting for his comments on the unfolding political development in the state.

Pele brings kinetic football to Nigeria.

Pelé teams up with Shell to bring together Africa and Europe in a first of its kind player-powered energy game.

The kinetic football pitch at the Federal College of Education (Technical) Akoka, Lagos installed by shell was in the spotlight again yesterday with the Pelé’s Energy Challenge.
As stated the event helped launched ‘Make the Future London’,
Pelé’s Energy Challenge showcased the power of innovative kinetic tile technology that converts footsteps into renewable electricity.

The challenge features two teams that comprised children from London and Lagos linked up via satellite. The more energy a player generated on the tiles the more time they had to compete, directly linking the technology to the task. Shell previously installed kinetic football pitches in Rio and Lagos, providing a safe environment for the communities to play, with floodlights powered by the players and solar panels.

The tile technology used to build the  pitches and power Pelé’s Energy Challenge is the brainchild of a British entrepreneur and founder of Pavegen, Laurence Kemball-Cook, who has been supported through Shell LiveWIRE programme.

In 2014, Shell and Pelé joined forces to launch the first of its kind player powered community football pitch in Rio de Janeiro.

While the Lagos pitch was opened in 2015 with the support of solar entrepreneur and global music superstar Akon; showing the local communities what can be achieved when bright energy ideas are put into action.

The LiveWIRE programme was launched in Nigeria in 2003, and has since enabled young entrepreneurs to convert ideas into real businesses that create products or services as well as employment to the community. LiveWIRE supports Nigeria’s National Youth Policy by encouraging and training young people to start their own businesses by providing start-up funds. It is recorded that the programme has trained 6,200 youths in enterprise development and management, and provided business start-up grants to 3,100

This is an added value to Africa and Nigeria youths as a whole. And something Nigeria can surely benefit from.
